This watercolor was painted at the same location as the previous "Pine Creek Cottage (No.1)", but from the inside porch because it was raining. One of the defining features of this cottage is the bright yellow trim. I started with that and built the piece around the loose architecture of the cottage. The porch windows and side of the house frame the composition with yellow strokes. The porch door, latch, walkway, gutters, canoes and other familiar bits and pieces emerge to push and pull the scene into focus.
