After running with the Dalton Gang, Doolin formed his own Wild Bunch. For a time the
Wild Bunch was the most successful group of bandits robbing banks and trains in the West, but they were relentlessly hunted down by the Three Guardsmen. Once captured at a hot spring in Arkansas where he was nursing a previous foot gunshot wound, he later escaped only to be shot and killed by a shotgun by Marshall Heck Thomas.
