Watercolor made atop Highland Cemetery looking down on Lock Haven and east along the ridge. April watercolors have a special feel. After not being able to work comfortably outside for so many months it is a
cathartic experience to be embedded in nature and not looking out at it through a window. The young greens seem to darken by the minute as the landscape springs to life. This piece has hardly any paint in it. It's mostly water with just a trace of pigment. The title refers to trying to navigate the painting without getting in the way. The idea of letting it flow through my hands rather than trying to wrench it out of the paint.
